State Chief Information Officer, State of North Carolina, George Bakolia, State CIO
Organizational Structure
NC State CIO, George BakoliaWelcome

Information technology does more than allow the state to deliver services more quickly and efficiently. It has become indispensable to the daily operation of state government.

By statute, North Carolina’s Chief Information Officer has dual roles. The State CIO leads the Office of Information Technology Services, the state’s information technology agency, and also has broad authority in planning and budgeting, purchasing, project approval and oversight, and security.

In both of my roles, I encourage the appropriate use of information technology to better serve citizens, safeguard the state’s resources against viruses and other threats, and work to ensure that dollars are spent wisely.

Sincerely,
George Bakolia, State CIO
